Welcome to the most amazing retreat centre I have ever seen. It is high on a hill with the most incredible views and it is a very special and spiritual venue with incredible rituals (the bells ring in the tower at 9am and 6pm for us all to stop and breath in) and venues. There is an hexagonal yoga room, a breathtaking space called Tara Sanctuary where we will sing and chant but not talk!

There are walks to explore, a labyrinth, an outdoor bath, massage therapists, incredible organic vegetarian food (all inclusive in your fee) and lots of options for accommodation (although I would describe it as simple). Wifi is available in the main centre but we are encouraged to unplug as much as we can and it becomes the true definition of a retreat.

There will be free time of course, it’s only a 2 hour drive from Auckland and about 40 minutes to spectacular white sand beaches. I am so excited (can you tell!!) and the best bit is we will be joined by Jennie Jackson - The Adaptive Yogi, a very special Kiwi who I met last year at Sangsura’s Byron Retreat (some of you will know her and how amazing she is. Learn more about Jennie HERE you will know why I HAD to do something with her and on the last day of our Byron Retreat we sat down and made a plan and here it is!

About Body Positive Yoga Retreats

Our retreats are gentle and reflective in nature, they are more focused on self-compassion and all the limbs of yoga and a breath led practice. We don’t practice fast flow vinyassa twice a day, we come to relax, restore, and refocus. It’s for self-care and community and most of all fun! I find the people who come are lovely and so diverse! I will match you up with a lovely roommate if you want to share. Many if not most people come alone and leave with new friends. I am a very experienced facilitator. I love running retreats, it’s a very special privilege.

We are fat positive, body positive, inclusive, LGBTQ loving, social justice and trauma aware warriors! Please talk to me if have any questions about accessibility. There are always chairs making yoga accessible for many.

It’s a non-diet space with no diet talk, fat shaming, body shaming where all including absolute beginners are welcome. Yoga can be done on a chair or on the floor or standing. We are well trained accessible yoga teachers and I have been holding brave spaces for 15 years both as a psychotherapist and a yoga teacher.

Each year there will be Fat Positive ONLY retreats and we will clearly state that. Otherwise the retreats, workshops and classes are for all.

Welcome to our first retreat driving distance from Sydney! I hope you love it, I looked at a lot of places to find the perfect venue for us!

About 1 1/2 hours drive from Sydney is the stunning Yanada Retreat is a six bedroom country property set on 38 acres by the picturesque McDonald River, 2km outside the historic village of St Albans. We are 15 minutes from Wisemans Ferry & the Hawkesbury River.

All meals are provided (except for Saturday night dinner) when we can venture to the local pub or your can head off on your own! The food is amazing! Fresh, homemade, vegetarian and organically sourced. We will still have our Fat Yoga “Welcome Drinks” too!

There is a pool and river to explore as well as a yoga studio and lovely accommodation and 2 glamping tents!
